Tromsø received 3,900 extra coronavirus vaccine doses – it can now offer the first dose to all its residents. Two new people have been registered with coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

The Municipality will receive a total of 9,500 doses in the coming weeks as a result of Norway receiving 100,000 extra doses of the Pfizer vaccine. During the next two weeks, the Municipality will thus be able to offer the first dose to all residents.

“We have long pointed out that we have received too few doses. Fortunately, this is now changing,” Mayor Gunnar Wilhelmsen said.

He encouraged anyone who has not registered for the vaccine to do so.

In the last 24 hours, two new people have been registered as infected with corona. One of them is a close contact, while the other has been infected abroad, the Municipality stated. A total of 31 people are isolated as a result of infection, while 48 people are quarantined because they are close contacts.

High infection rates were registered in the Municipality at the end of June and the beginning of July, partly due to a number of soldiers testing positive after a trip to Tromsø.
