The man, who was convicted in Trøndelag District Court on Tuesday, must also pay the five victims in the case a total reparation of NOK 800,000.

The man’s stepdaughter was among the five girls who were abused. All the girls were aged 8-10. The abuse has taken place over several years.

The court also decided to confiscate computer equipment where the 49-year-old had stored over 100,000 photos and videos of child abuse. The man had been actively searching for such material since 2003 and until his arrest last year.

Experts in the case have determined that the man has a pedophile disposition, and the court considered whether preventive detention should be imposed instead of an ordinary prison sentence but concluded that the law’s requirements for such a sentence were not met.
