The much-discussed private plane trip, hotel rooms, security, and other expenses raised the bill for the Taliban’s visit to Norway to at least NOK 6.5 million.

The flight for the Taliban delegation cost NOK 3.6 million, TV 2, which has been given access to the costs through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports. The channel has also looked at other expenses in connection with the visit, which also included representatives from the USA, the EU, the UK, France, Germany, and Italy.

“The meetings in Oslo took place over four days and covered civil society dialogue, multilateral and bilateral meetings. The event includes 54 international participants,” communications adviser Ragnhild Simenstad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Hotel rooms, meeting rooms, and catering are combined in an expense item of NOK 1.3 million. In addition, there is NOK 1.6 million on an expenses item marked “process support including transport, security, etc.”.

Thus, the sum is up to NOK 6.5 million so far, but there are still invoices that have not been received after the visit in January.

“Expenses will probably increase somewhat, partly due to increased security expenses,” Simenstad said.
