The police have started an investigation after a hiker found remains of a body at Nautholmen in Tvedestrand this Easter, newspaper VG reports.

Remains have been found in the form of parts of a skeleton as well as some clothing.

The police immediately launched an investigation, sheriff Odd Holum in Holt said in a press release.

The police have carried out several searches in the area with assistance from the rescue services and divers from the Østre Agder fire service, VG writes.

A hiker found the remains partly in the water and partly on land on March 27. According to the police, the remains bear the mark of having been in the sea for some time.

For the time being, the police will not say anything about either the gender or age of the person in question.
