A storm was reported somewhere in Norway 26 out of 31 days this January. At the same time, twice as many danger warnings were sent out in January of 2022 than in the same month last year.

Meteorologists told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that the high-pressure area over Great Britain led to an extra stormy January in Norway this year.

Storms were registered in Norway on 26 of the month’s 31 days. A total of 96 danger warnings were issued: 82 of them at the yellow level, 12 at the orange level, and 2 at the red level.

In January last year, there were 46 yellow, 3 orange, and 1 red danger warnings.

The high-pressure area in the UK has led to good weather there throughout January and the opposite in Norway.
