Stjørdal Municipality has reported a corona-infected couple in their 60s who chose to leave a quarantine hotel during the Palm Sunday weekend.

During a trip in Northern Norway, one of the two travelers from Eastern Norway was diagnosed with coronavirus. The Municipality asked them not to travel home but to go into infection isolation and quarantine, newspaper Bladet reports.

The couple chose to leave. They contacted Stjørdal Municipality before reaching home because they got tired, newspaper Adressa writes.

They were offered a room at the quarantine hotel Scandic Hell during the Palm Sunday weekend. They spent the night but left the hotel the next day, despite the clear message that they had to stay there until the isolation period was over.

Stjørdal Municipality reported them on Tuesday.

“We must point out that this is not okay. The way the couple behaved opens up the possibilities for infection,” the municipal chief noted.
