Two men from Buskerud are charged with smuggling 600 liters GBL to Norway. This seizure is reportedly the largest ever  made in the Nordic countries of this type of liquid drugs.

The two defendants, a 52 year old man and a 30 year old relative, were arrested by the Drammen police on 12 May on 2015, according to NRK news.

The arrests were made after  a shipment of 600 liters GBL by boat from Hong Kong addressed to one of the two defendants had come on May 7 the same year.

To catch the two men, the police and Customs replaced the drugs with water, before the barrels were sent to the defendants.

The men were arrested when they were in the process of tapping the liquid of the barrels into  cans which they were to distribute to others.

The reason why the police started investigation, was a startlingly large number of overdoses in the district caused by GHB, a drug made by GBL.

According to the Norwegian Narcotics Police Association (NNPF) the GBL seizure is reportedly the largest in the Nordic region since GBL was listed on the Norwegian drug list in 2010.

According to the indictment, the two men have also  previously introduced 200 liters of GBL. The case will be up for Drammen District Court from 5 January, 2017.
