The two billionaires Stein Erik Hagen and Christen Sveaas gave NOK 1 million each to the Christian Democratic Party’s (KrF) election campaign in the hope of getting Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) re-elected.

This week, the Christian Democratic Party received NOK 75,000 in major election campaign contributions. Now the amount is NOK 2 million higher, newspaper Dagen writes.

Christen Sveaas told Dagen that the party’s gathering around the Solberg government after the election is the main reason why he is donating to the KrF.

“KrF is an important part of the government. We want to contribute. So that it can continue its good work even after the election,” Sveeas said.

Secretary-General of the KrF, Geir Morten Nilsen, says that the money will go into the party’s most expensive advertising campaign ever.
