Two people transported to the hospital after a traffic accident on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau

Two people have been transported to Voss hospital after a car drove off the road on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. Police describe the accident as serious.

“The scene of the accident is quite far from the road. Two people were involved in the accident. Both are awake and conscious,” the Western Police District wrote on Twitter at 6:11 AM on Monday.

The police were notified of the accident on national road 7 at Litlestøl in Ulvik Municipality at 5:16 AM.

The police describe the accident as serious. The car drove down a cliff of 10-20 meters, operations manager Erik Loftesnes told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

At 7:18 AM, the police wrote on Twitter that both people who were in the car had been retrieved with the help of crews from the emergency services.

The two are awake and conscious and have been transported to Voss hospital by helicopter and ambulance.
