Swedish police still do not know the motive of the student who killed two teachers with a knife and ax at a high school in Malmö on Monday night.

During a press conference on Tuesday, the police stated that the 18-year-old perpetrator from Trelleborg, 30 kilometers south of Malmö, has no previous criminal record.

The 18-year-old even alerted the police at 5:12 PM on Monday.

“I am sitting on the third floor, and I have laid down my weapons, and I have killed two people,” he is said to have said, according to the newspaper Aftonbladet.

When the police arrived at the scene 10 minutes later, they found the 18-year-old on the third floor of Malmö Latinskola, together with two injured women who were both teachers at the school.

Died from the injuries

The two were taken to the hospital but died the same night from the injuries.

The attack took place after school, but about 50 people were at the school during a rehearsal for the school show.

The 18-year-old’s motive is not known, and it is unclear whether the victims of the attack were accidental.

According to employees at the school, the 18-year-old has behaved strangely lately.

“Several teachers at the school said that he has behaved very strangely throughout the winter, and they were therefore afraid that something would happen,” a source told Aftonbladet.
