The number of corona infection cases in Norway has doubled in one week. Assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad says more people are testing themselves than before.

In the last 24 hours, 4,045 corona-infected people have been registered in Norway, a twofold increase from the same day last week.

In Oslo, 762 new cases of infection have been registered in the last 24 hours.

Assistant health director Espen Rostrup Nakstad thinks more people are testing themselves.

“This is the highest number we have seen, and it shows that this trend is rising. It should also be said that people are probably a little better at testing themselves now than a month ago,” Nakstad told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK).

“When we look at the hospitalization numbers as well, it is clear that the infection has increased more than the hospitalization rates. But it is still an increasing trend, and it has been for quite some time,” he noted.
