The Ukrainian government has ordered 5,100 German Matador anti-tank weapons, DPA reports.

Ukrainian sources confirmed the news of the purchase to the German news agency DPA, after reports of the case in the newspapers Die Welt and Bild.

The weapons in question (RGW90 HH Matador) are produced by Dynamit Nobel Defense in Burbach. They are said to be effective against armored vehicles and to break through brick walls.

The government in Kyiv is said to have paid EUR 25 million for the weapons, and 2,650 of them had already been delivered on Saturday, according to DPA.

The rest will be delivered in batches until the end of May.
