Around 800 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded since the invasion began, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry claims.

According to a statement from the Ministry, reported by CNN, more than 30 Russian tanks have been neutralized, and seven planes and six helicopters have been shot down.

The reports of Russian casualties have not been independently confirmed, and the Russian military leadership has denied previous allegations of casualties.

Zelensky asks for military aid

President Volodymyr Zelenskyj criticized the outside world for not coming to Ukraine’s rescue.

“Today, we defend our country alone. As of yesterday, the world’s most powerful forces follow from a distance,” he said in a video speech, the BBC reports.

“Was Russia moved by yesterday’s sanctions? We hear in the air and see on the ground that it was not enough,” Zelenskyj continued.

In both Ukrainian and Russian, he reiterates his call for a ceasefire.

“Sooner or later, Russia must talk to us about how to end the fighting and stop this invasion. The sooner such talks can begin, the smaller Russia’s losses will be,” Zelenskyj noted.
