On Saturday, a total of 5,208 people were evacuated via humanitarian corridors, according to figures from President Volodymyr Zelensky’s office.

Two seriously injured children and an infant with pneumonia were among the 5,208 evacuated, the Presidential Office’s deputy head Kyrylo Tymoshenko told CNN.

The country’s Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said the evacuees were evacuated via ten humanitarian corridors throughout the day, the newspaper Kyiv Independent writes.

Among them were 4,331 inhabitants from the besieged port city of Mariupol. Tymoshenko says they have reached the city of Zaporizhia, which is further northwest in the country.

The two children and the infant were transported in ambulances to a hospital in Zaporizhia, he added.
