More than 660,000 people have fled Ukraine and are now in neighboring countries, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees said on Tuesday.

“There are now 660,000 refugees who have traveled from Ukraine to neighboring countries in the last six days,” spokeswoman Shabia Mantoo said.

“The number is increasing exponentially. At this rate, the situation looks set to become Europe’s biggest refugee crisis this century,” Mantoo added.

The UN estimated on Monday that the number of refugees would reach 4 million in the coming weeks.
