The University Hospital of Northern Norway (UNN) got a fine of NOK 300,000 after a hospitalized patient died in March 2017.

The background for the fine is that the female patient, according to the police, was left for too long without adequate treatment, the Troms Police District stated in a press release.

The police started investigating the case in 2019 after receiving an assessment from the County Governor in Troms. The case was reported in May 2018.

In the investigation of the case, the police have received assistance from Kripos, a number of witnesses have been questioned, and extensive documentation has been obtained.

A fine of NOK 300,000 has been issued for violations of the Health Personnel Act, but the prosecuting authority has not found grounds to punish individuals, and the cases against them have been dropped.
