Many employees at the University Hospital of Northern Norway are starting to get very tired, and operations have been postponed. The hospital fears increased infection.

Six operations have been postponed in the last week, and five patients have been sent to hospitals other than UNN due to capacity challenges.

“It is not a good situation, and we apologize to the patients who are affected,” CEO Anita Schumacher at UNN said at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

She fears that the infection will continue to increase and that the number of admissions will also increase.

“We have probably not yet seen the full effect of the recent sharp increase in infection in Tromsø,” she noted.

In Tromsø, 16 corona patients were admitted on Tuesday. Six of these were in the intensive care unit.

The UNN is now operating at the “yellow” level.
