In the last 24 hours, the FHI has registered 14,970 new corona cases in Norway. That is 1,633 more than the same day last week, according to figures from the Norwegian Surveillance System for Communicable Diseases (MSIS).

On January 24, the FHI made major changes to the testing system. Due to this, figures after January 25 are not comparable with the figures before.

Infections rates are no longer the key measure – the FHI now uses other metrics for monitoring the pandemic to a greater extent. Hospitalizations will be monitored with greater scrutiny.

On Saturday, 243 corona patients were hospitalized in Norway – 20 fewer than the day before. Out of the total, 51 patients were in intensive care, and 33 of them were on respirators, according to the Norwegian Directorate of Health’s overview.

In the last seven days, an average of 20,153 corona infection cases have been registered per day. The corresponding average seven days ago was 15,023, so the trend is rising.
