Update: 2,197,210 Norwegians have received the first dose of the corona vaccine

A total of 2,197,210 people have been vaccinated with the first dose of the corona vaccine in Norway, the National Institute of Public Health’s (FHI) statistics show on Tuesday. 

Furthermore, 1,459,542 people have received the second dose. Thus, 40.8% of the population has received the first dose, and 27.1% of the population has been fully vaccinated.

For the population over the age of 18, 51.3% received the first dose, and 34.1% received the second dose. On Monday, 16,496 people received the first dose, and 1,654 people received the second dose, according to the FHI.

The first dose of the corona vaccine (Pfizer and BioNTech) was administered in Norway on December 27, 2020. On January 15, the first dose of the Moderna vaccine was administered, and on February 7, the AstraZeneca vaccine was introduced. 

On March 11, the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine was suspended. Then, on May 12, the Norwegian government announced that it would be permanently withdrawn from the country’s vaccination program due to the risk of severe blood clots.
