Utrecht: 1,000 people infected with corona during Verknipt festival in the Netherlands
At least 1,000 people were infected with the coronavirus during the two-day Verknipt festival in Utrecht in the Netherlands earlier this month.
The music festival on July 4 and 5 gathered around 20,000 people. On the first day, 448 people were infected, and on the second day, 515 were infected, according to the news agency ANP.
The health authorities in the Netherlands emphasize that even more people may have been infected.
The festival organizers say that the infection control measures were strict and that everyone had to present a vaccination certificate or show a negative corona test before they were admitted.
Despite mass vaccination, the Netherlands has recently experienced an increase in the spread of infection, with up to 8,000 new corona cases daily.
