Vinmonopolet is expecting a very busy period in the next month. It is now asking customers to plan ahead when it comes to this year’s Christmas shopping to avoid long queues.

Vinmonopolet states that it might see new customer records in the last two weeks before Christmas, so it is now encouraging customers to carry out this year’s Christmas shopping earlier – in the week before December 15.

“Our clear recommendation is that people plan out this year’s Christmas shopping and get it done as soon as possible. Everyone benefits from it,” CEO Elisabeth Hunter said.

Last year, many Norwegians started with Christmas shopping in mid-November, but this is not the case this year.

“Now people are back to traditional shopping habits, and if this continues for a few more weeks, we will have the most hectic Christmas rush ever at Vinmonopolet,” Hunter noted.

Normally, many people postpone Christmas shopping at Vinmonopolet until the last week before Christmas Eve. If many were to do so this year, the queues could be long, Vinmonopolet warns.
