A sudden storm ripped up several trees in Oslo and Akershus, and several cars were also hit.

After a relatively nice day, the capital was suddenly hit by a dramatic weather storm on Wednesday night. In a short period of time, fierce winds and heavy rain ravaged.

Oslo fire and rescue services are now using virtually all their resources to handle the extreme weather consquences, with 30 registered assignments since 20.40. A lot of overflow water is creating major traffic problems and cause flooding in basements. Large trees have been overturned, among other places in Seilduksgata and Helgesens gate, Oslo 110-central wrote on Twitter shortly after 9pm.

The tree that overturned in Helgesens gate hit three parked cars, and one of them was completely squashed. Fortunately, there were no people in any of the cars.

The police also noticed increased demand.

We have received a crazy amount of reports here. There are a lots of loose manhole covers, lots of water and several trees that have fallen down in our district. No personal injuries have so far been reported, said Operations Manager Line Skott in Oslo Police District to NTB around 9 pm last night.

The problems affected both Oslo, Bærum and Asker, according to the police.
