The new welfare benefit in the Volvo system is based on the policy for everyone in Sweden. It will be a significant benefit for many employees around the world.

Paid parental leave, especially for men, is uncommon in large parts of the world.

From April 1, all employees who have worked for Volvo for more than a year will be able to take six months’ leave where they receive 80% of their salary.

The leave can be taken whenever the employee so wishes, during the child’s first three years of life.

“The important thing is that we offer the same to both parents, and we encourage men to take this opportunity to get parental leave,” Volvo’s HR manager Hanna Fager said.
