50 people have been put in corona quarantine after a wedding in Oppdal, and two of them are showing symptoms. Several of the guests come from Northern Italy.

“The wedding consisted of about 50 people including guests and employees, and eight of these come from Trieste in northern Italy,” senior municipality medic Kirsten Vikan Opdahl tells Adresseavisen.

Everyone who attended the wedding is now in home quarantine for 14 days. The two who have symptoms are isolated. The municipality has been aware of the fact that guests from Italy came to the wedding and have followed the situation closely.

“We have been in dialogue with the management in the municipality and followed the advice of the Institute of Public Health all the way. In addition, we have been in contact with the wedding party both before and during, to advise on precautions,” explains the senior municipality medic.

It was the local newspaper OPP that first reported the case.

Also guests from England, Germany and Australia are quarantined. Trieste, where the eight guests came from, is a port city in the north of Italy. Italy is the hardest hit country in Europe with almost 6,000 infected and 233 deaths.

Around two-thirds of the cases of infection in Norway can be traced back to Italy. So far, 147 people have been confirmed to be infected in this country.
