Wenche Lowzow, the first parliamentary representative in Norway who came forward as gay, passed away. The conservative politician was 90 years old. “Of course it hurts, it is a great loss”, says Wenche Lowzow’s spouse Kim Friele to Aftenposten.
Lowzow represented the Oslo Conservatives Party and was part of the Parliament for the period 1977- 1985. She had a registered partnership with writer and activist Karen-Christine (Kim) Friele since 1993. The couple had been together for almost 40 years, says Friele. Lowzow died after a long illness in a care home in Geilo.
Wenche Lowzow, originally from Frogner, will be interred in Oslo, but the date of the funeral has not yet been confirmed.
