According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the corona pandemic is highly unlikely to go away during 2021.

“It would be very unrealistic and premature to believe that we virus will go away by the end of the year,” WHO’s crisis manager Michael Ryan said.

“If we’re smart, we can finish with the hospitalizations and the deaths and the tragedy associated with this pandemic” by the end of the year, he said.

According to him, the WHO’s focus now is on keeping the spread of infection as low as possible while at the same time vaccinating as many people as possible.

“If the vaccines begin to impact not only on death and not only on hospitalization, but have a significant impact on transmission dynamics and transmission risk, then I believe we will accelerate toward controlling this pandemic,” he noted.
