According to the head of the World Health Organization, the world is on the brink of a moral catastrophe in connection with the distribution of coronavirus vaccines.

“A catastrophic moral error” is how WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus’ describes the vaccine distribution.

Ghebreyesus called for a globally more fair distribution of vaccine doses.

“Not only does this practice of ‘myself first’ endanger the world’s poorest and most vulnerable. We’re also harming ourselves,” Tedros said at the opening of the WHO’s annual board meeting on Monday.

“Ultimately, this approach will only prolong the pandemic,” he said.
