A woman in her 20s has been charged with attempted murder after a woman in her 40s was cut in the face with a knife on Thursday.

The victim called the police on Thursday night from an address in the center of Halden and said that she had been cut in the face with a knife. Shortly afterward, a woman in her 20s was arrested at another address in the city center.

On Saturday, the woman in her 20s was remanded in custody for four weeks, charged with attempted murder.

Romerike and Glåmdal District Court justify the custody by the risk of loss of evidence. The court also wants to prevent the accused from committing new offenses.

“As the technical investigations at the site have not been completed, the accused also has the opportunity to remove objects or in other ways influence the crime scene – either herself or with the help of others,” the district court explained in the ruling.

The Eastern Police District stated on Friday night that the two women know each other and that there is an ongoing conflict between them. The victim was sent home from the emergency room after receiving treatment for the cut on her face.
