A woman in her 40s was found badly injured in Askim on Tuesday. Later in the day, she died. One person has been charged in the case.

“Several witnesses are being taken in for questioning. It is too early to say anything about the course of events, and the police are now working on the basis of a number of different hypotheses,” operations manager Tom Sandberg told the newspaper VG.

The Eastern Police District was notified that a severely injured woman had been found at county road 115 in Askim at 5:15 AM on Tuesday.

Found in a car

Sandberg told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) that the woman was found in a car. The person who drove the car the woman was found in was at the scene when the police arrived. The driver was taken to the police station for questioning.

“As far as we know, there were two people in the car. Other witnesses came to the scene and called the emergency services. They will also be questioned,” Sandberg said.

Unclear course of events

“What happened is currently not clear,” he added.

According to TV 2, the woman was found in a rental car. Sandberg told the channel that there is a relationship between the woman and the accused.

The police are working on notifying the relatives.
