28-year-old Daisy Mai Tran was found dead on a gravel road in Snartemo in Vest-Agder police said. The woman was a French citizen but resident in Norway.
She was found dead in a remote area on Sunday morning, and on Wednesday the police released her name in consultation with relatives.
Another woman was found severely injured.
She is a Lithuanian citizen in her 20s, living in Norway. The woman is still receiving treatment in hospital.
The police’s main theory remains that the women were hit by a third person who had driven from the site.
‘’If this theory is correct, we consider it a negligent murder’’ said police lawyer, Hellek Rue to Fædrelandsvennen news.
According to NRK news, the police were searching for a car, but this is now checked out of the case.
‘’It was a silver-gray Volvo, but it has been checked out of the case. We are looking for another car, or another vehicle’’ said the police lawyer.
The police have carried out a number of interrogations and have received several tips.
They still want to get in touch with people who had been in the Urestadveien area between midnight and until 06.00 on Sunday morning.
