One woman sustained burns after an apartment block fire in Fredrikstad on Tuesday night. She has now been transferred to Haukeland University Hospital for further follow-ups.

Haukeland University Hospital carries out the most advanced burn treatment in Norway.

According to police, the fire started in an apartment on the ground floor of the block half an hour after midnight.

The emergency services were notified of the fire around midnight. About 20 minutes later, the fire was extinguished. The cause of the fire is not known.

A total of nine people were taken to the hospital at Kalnes, eight of them because they had inhaled smoke. The ninth person, who lived in the apartment that burned, suffered burns and has now been transferred from Kalnes.
