Woman transferred to the hospital after her car collided with three moose in Gjerdrum

A female driver has been taken to the hospital after the car she was driving collided with three moose in the morning hours on Monday.

The car crashed into the guardrail at Nannestadvegen north of Kokstad just after 6 AM on Monday. According to the police operations manager, two of the moose were found dead on the road, while a third ran away injured.

“The moose in the roadway were dead, and the wildlife commission has located the last moose that ran from the site. It will be shot due to injuries from the accident,” operations manager Jan-André Delbeck in the Eastern Police District told NTB.

There were two people in the car when the accident happened. The woman who was driving the car has been taken to the hospital.

“There is significant material damage to the car due as there is a speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour at the scene of the accident. The driver has been taken to the hospital,” Delbeck added.

The operations manager further stated that the other passenger, a man in his 20s, was unharmed. The police were notified of the accident at 6:16 AM.

    I am not saying this is what happened in this case (accident), but I cannot tell you how many times I have seen drives not slowing down with animals both domestic and wild standing alongside the road. They are like children. You never know what they are going to do.
