Stockholm police have between 80 and 90 ongoing investigations into murders and attempted murders. In around 20 of the cases, the suspects are under 18 years old, SVT reports.

According to SVT, in one of the cases, a 13-year-old is suspected of having shot a young man in the back of the head. It allegedly happened in Upplands Väsby north of Stockholm this summer.

“This is astounding since the person is a 13-year-old,” police inspector Martin Wallin in the Sollentuna Police District in the Stockholm region noted.

The boy has been taken care of by the social welfare authorities in accordance with Swedish law. He is suspected of attempted murder or complicity in attempted murder.

The vast majority of young people involved in solved crimes have had contact with the social services, according to the police. However, few of the killings and attempted murders have been solved.
