Wuhan virus: Chinese in Norway can apply for extended visa

Chinese people who cannot return home because their flights are canceled can apply for a visa extension in Norway, the Directorate of Immigration (UDI) said.

“If you cannot return by the expiry of the visa due to the cancellation of your flight, you must apply for an extension,” a statement from the UDI said on Friday.

Those who have a visitor visa valid for less than 90 days are asked to contact the police and apply for an extension as soon as possible.

A visitor visa cannot be extended beyond 90 days, and those approaching a stay of this length in the Schengen area must apply for permission to be here legally. This is done in the form of an email to the UDI.

Those who have an expiring residence permit must also apply for an extension. They will have it for a short period of time.

The UDI emphasizes that the possibility of applying for a visa extension applies only to those who cannot return to China.
