Difficult driving conditions are expected in the mountains in Southern Norway on Thursday afternoon due to heavy snowfall. Western Norway will get the first snow of the year, according to meteorologists.

A yellow danger warning for heavy snowfall has been issued.

The meteorologists warn that the wind in the mountains will increase to a stiff westerly gale in exposed places on Thursday afternoon.

“Together with snow showers, this can lead to local snowdrifts. Most showers are expected in western and northern mountain areas. Wind and showers will decrease in the run-up to Saturday night,” meteorologists believe.

In Western Norway, there could be a lot of snow on Thursday afternoon. Snow showers are expected down around 400 meters in Nordfjord and Møre og Romsdal. There may be 25 to 60 centimeters of snow – even more in the mountains.
