The expected technological development will make electric cars into an increasingly affordable climate measure, according to a new analysis from the Environment Directorate.

The agency has calculated what it would cost to phase electric vehicles into the passenger car “park” in the period between 2020 and 2031.

The analysis shows that the average cost of the measure is between 600 and 1,100 per tonne CO2 for measures to reduce emissions in the period 2021-2030 by 12.7 million tonnes.

– The anticipated technological developments mean that this is not more expensive than other measures we have investigated in the transport sector, Ellen Hambro, director  in the Environment Directorate said.

The measure cost shows what a measure to cut emissions costs and is a useful tool for determining which measures  provide the greatest emission reductions per krone.
