Eastern Norway will be the place to be if you want to see colorful New Year’s fireworks this year. In Nordland, in Trøndelag and in Western Norway, it will be mostly cloudy.

Being able to attend colorful New Year’s fireworks is the highlight for many when the New Year is welcomed with flashes and bangs, but in some parts of the country the weather gods will not fully participate .

– Troms and Finnmark will have relatively calm wind conditions on New Year’s Eve with partly cloud cover with some snow showers. In Nordland, there will be more rainfall and mostly completely cloudy with rain in southern parts and slush in the north, says state meteorologist Rannveig Eikill at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute to NTB.

Fairly cloudy
The rain continues in Trøndelag and especially in the areas towards Møre and Romsdal.

– Further south in Western Norway it will be mostly cloudy, with some rainfall, especially in Northwest Norway, she says.

In the southern part of the country, you have to settle for fairly cloudy weather, especially in western parts, but at least with calm wind conditions.

It is the inhabitants of the rest of southern Norway who get the best opportunities to experience clear weather and thus good views of the fireworks.

Fine fireworks

– In eastern Norway, it is mostly dry weather, somewhat cloudy, but there does not appear to be any low cloud layers, so we can probably say that it will be a good fireworks display, says Eikill.

When it comes to temperatures, they will drop somewhat, but there will still be mild weather and mostly plus degrees across the country. Locally, in some places, the temperature will reach just below zero as it approaches midnight Tuesday.
