According to a new poll, support for both governing parties is falling, while the Socialist Left Party (SV) is advancing, along with the opposition parties, the Conservatives (H) and the Progress Party (FRP).
The Labor Party dropped most in the recent poll Ipsos has carried out for the newspaper Dagbladet. The party got 24% of voter support, a decline of 1.8% from October. The Center Party also fell in the poll, to 13.4%, down 1.7% points from October.
The government parties’ budget partner, the SV, for its part, advanced by 1%, ending up at 9.3%.
With this result, the three red-green parties have gained a narrow majority with a total of 86 seats in the Norwegian parliament (Storting).
Difficult issues
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre believes that many difficult issues have overshadowed the government’s recent efforts.
“It is a clear message that we take with us, both me as prime minister and the Labor Party,” Støre told Dagbladet.
The Red Party ended up at 5.4% (+0.5), while the Green Party (MDG) got over the election threshold with 4.2% (+0.8).
While the governing parties are struggling, things are going better for the conservative opposition parties, the Conservatives and the Progress Party. The Conservatives advanced by 1.6%, to 22.3%, while the FRP advanced by 1.5%, to 11.3%.
The Liberal Party (V) remained relatively stable at 4.5% (+0.4), while the Christian Democrats (KRF) ended up below the election threshold with 2.5% (-1.5).
