Three weeks after the start of the semester, many students are still waiting to get student housing. Nevertheless, far more people were in the housing queue at the same time last year.

“Even a good while after the start of the semester, we see that many students are still in the housing queue. It is quite clear that we need to build more student housing to ensure that everyone has room for the start of studies. In the worst cases, some of these students are homeless now”, says Andreas Trohjell, leader of the Norwegian student organization.

A survey conducted by the organization shows that 4,431 students were in a housing queue at the student organizations on 1 September. However, this is far fewer than on 1 September 2019, when 5,358 students were in a housing queue.
