Oral exams are canceled all over the country, Minister of Education Guri Melby (V) said on Thursday.

“As of now, there are several thousand students and several hundred teachers in quarantine, and there is reason to believe that this will be the situation in the coming weeks,” Melby said at an urgent press conference on Thursday morning.

“There is reason to believe that quarantine and infection is something that will affect many of those involved,” Melby noted.

There has been a lot of discussion on canceling oral exams in Norway this year.

Many have pointed out that the infection situation has led to many students missing out on education programs, which in turn could lead to an unfair situation for many.

Earlier this week, Melby met the county mayors. They asked her to cancel high school oral exams.
