Plan for eleven months of financial support for students passed in Stortinget

Next year, students will get an extra week of scholarship money and student loans, and subsequently this financial support will also extended to the whole of June. This proposal was carried by Stortinget on  Friday.

– We are very pleased that the plan has finally been adopted. There is no doubt that this is a very important measure to give students more time to their studies. So it is gratifying that all the parties in the parliament now supports a plan for extending the financial support for students, Therese Eia Lerøen, head of the Norwegian Student Organization,  says in a statement.

Currently, students receive scholarship money and student loans in ten of the months of the year. As part of its proposal for the revised national budget, the government proposed an plan for stepping up the financial support for students, which means that students with full financial supportl  will receive scholarship money and student money for the whole June as well.
The 11th month of financial support will become a reality in 2020. As part of a gradual expansion of student grants,  the financial support will be extended by an extra week already next year.
