Over 60,000 students will attend Operation Daycare on Thursday. This year’s collection campaign supports young people who are forced to work in the cobalt mines in Congo.

Between 60,000 and 80,000 students across the country will work to help children and young people in the DR of Congo for a better life, for schooling and for a better future when Operation Daycare is launched on Thursday.

“Most people believe that human trafficking belongs in the history books, but there have never been more slaves than there is today,” Development Minister Dag-Inge Ulstein (KrF) told NTB.

The Minister for Development is very pleased that this year’s Operation Daycare has been awarded to Caritas Norway and the organization’s youth projects exposed to forced labor in the cobalt mines and militias in the Congo.
