One out of five first-graders in Oslo did not attend school when it reopened on Monday after being closed for six weeks. This was according to preliminary figures from the municipality.

On Monday morning, pupils from 1st to 4th level could attend school after having been homeschooled for over a month.

“We have received answers from about half of the schools. The figures show that 80 per cent of the first graders showed up,” said communications director Trine Lie Larsen in the education department in Oslo municipality to NTB.
In the second to fourth levels, the attendance was somewhat higher. 82 percent of second and third graders showed up, while 85 percent of fourth graders attended school.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, all schools were closed on March 12.
