Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon turns 49

Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon will celebrate his 49th birthday on Wednesday. He will turn 49.

The Crown Prince will hold a restrained birthday celebration.

“It will be celebrated privately,” communications manager Guri Varpe at the Palace informed NTB.

The Crown Prince was very active in the last 12 months. Among other things, he was on an official visit to the United States in December. Together with Crown Princess Mette-Marit, he has also been on trips to Viken in September and to Svalbard in April. They also paid an official visit to Sweden in May. He also set out on an expedition across Greenland at the end of May. 

Last autumn, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. In addition, their eldest daughter, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, recently turned 18. 

Crown Prince Haakon is the next in line to inherit the throne after King Harald.
