The government wants to cover the expenses of children and youth in several municipalities for sports and other leisure activities.

“In the state budget for 2020, NOK 60 million has been set aside so that even more municipalities can be experimental municipalities,” says Minister of Children and Family Kjell Ingolf Ropstad to NRK.

Vadsø and Arendal have been pilot municipalities this year. In both of these municipalities, families with children can soon apply for reimbursed expenses for leisure activities this year. The two municipalities have received a total of NOK 10 million.

The scheme applies to children and adolescents aged 6 to 18, and it should be possible to receive support for leisure activities of up to NOK 1,000 during the six months.

The Ministry will eventually come back to when this will become a scheme for the entire country.

The introduction of leisure cards has been one of KrF’s core issues.
