Professional drivers with single eye vision can still drive a truck and bus. A change in the rules gives approved professional drivers exemptions from the health requirements for driver’s licenses.

Vision in both eyes is required to get a driver’s license for a truck or bus. Over the years, however, exceptions have been made for several professional drivers. Under previous rules, such exceptions have only been granted until 30th September 2019.

Now these rules are changing.

Already approved exemptions can thus be extended beyond this date, says Transport Minister Jon Georg Dale (FrP/Progress Party).

The drivers concerned must undergo a medical assessment and conduct a practical driving assessment before the exemption can be extended. This is in line with previous rules.
