A total of 1,600 students at the student housing center at Fantoft in Bergen has been asked to test themselves after an outbreak of infection on a construction site, newspaper Bergens Tidende reports.

The students live in the Sammen’s student housing center.

“This is an extraordinary situation,” communications manager Marita Monsen at Sammen told the newspaper.

There are said to be nine workers associated with Fantoft station who are infected. Several of the infected are said to have the South African mutation of the virus, the newspaper writes.

All residents of the student housing are asked to test themselves. Monsen also says that the Bergen Municipality has assured them that they have enough testing capacity to test the students.
