Infection tracing has shown that 65 corona-infected people are associated with the outbreak in Nordre Follo, where six samples have been confirmed to have the British virus variant.

“The 65 cases don’t necessarily have the British variant,” municipal chief medial officer Kerstin Anine Johnsen Myhrvold emphasized at a press conference on Saturday.

Out of the six confirmed cases of the mutated virus, two were reported on Thursday afternoon, while four new ones were reported on Friday night.

“For the time being, we know that there is a high risk that there is an outbreak of the British variant in a kindergarten,” Myhrvold said.

All samples taken from mid-December must be mapped for the mutated virus.

Myhrvold said that they have a good dialogue with the National Institute of Public Health (FHI) and a good infection tracing team in place.

An outbreak of the British coronavirus variant led to Nordre Follo closing down the municipality on Friday.
