A 70-year-old man died on Thursday in a work-related accident on a fishing boat outside Senja.
The accident took place on the vessel “Hovden Viking.” According to the Rescue coordination center – Northern Norway, the man fell overboard at 6:30 AM, newspaper Nordlys writes.
According to the newspaper, the ship was fishing for cod around 18 nautical miles northwest of Husøy at Senja when the accident occurred.
Troms Police District confirmed that a 70-year-old man lost his life in the accident and that he was found dead after a rescue helicopter with a doctor went out to check on the boat.
The Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority and the Norwegian Maritime Directorate have been notified of the incident.
