The police are asking for help in the investigation of the apartment block fire in Arna. They’re are asking everyone who witnessed the fire at an early stage to get in touch.

The press release from the police also states that the Armed Forces will be involved in the investigation. Two employees in the Armed Forces’ minesweeper command will assist the police in investigating the fire, which led to several residents being evacuated on Saturday, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

They will mainly search for the video surveillance equipment in the building, which has not yet been retrieved from the ruins.

“It is too dangerous to enter the building. Therefore, we have contacted the Armed Forces to conduct investigations inside the building to search for the video material,” police attorney Are Nygård Berg told the national broadcaster.

Assistance from Kripos

Kripos also sent a specially trained dog to the fire site on Wednesday to look for remnants of flammable liquid.

The police are asking everyone who witnessed the fire in its early stages to get in touch. They are also interested in any photos and video, and the public is asked to contact them at 476 96 060.

“The police also want to get in touch with people who observed the fire at its early stages, and especially people who observed the fire before the emergency services arrived at the scene,” the police noted.

So far, three people have status as suspects in the case.
